Publication Design

STUDENT PROJECT - PUSH PIN GRAPHIC - 2011

Editorial Project: The objective of this editorial design was to design a concept driven publication inspired by the work at Push Pin Studios. After researching and understanding about the work - the aesthetics and varied work at Push Pin studios, I was inspired to illustrate the A&P story by the famous author John Updike using watercolor. The entire book has been designed with meticulous decisions about appropriate page size, margin size, typeface choice + size and layout.

Printed on Wasau Paper
Cover Design: Watercolor design printed on canvas and perfect bound.

STUDENT PROJECT

The scope of this project was to understand and explore ways in which complex information can be represented to create a unified design using typography and grid systems.

The graphic form was created by placing a slinky on to the scanner bed at different positions - stretched, compressed and also capturing movement to reinforce the concept of energy in science.

Printed on Wausau paper - off white

Event Invitation

Inspired by the artist's mystical sculpture assemblages, the concept behind this event poster is to depict the dark and light shadows created by the works of the artist. Careful attention to detail, hierarchy, layout and the repetition of the sculpture image to reinforce the artist' nature of repeating and stacking elements to create assemblages.

Typography - Calendar Design

STUDENT PROJECT

Interactive / Environmental Project

Typography study: What does time means to you? An typographic exploration of time and its meaning. Understanding and using typography as a means to explore the passage of time. As a designer, it is important for me to appreciate and introspect on the passage on time. Be it productivity, fun or time for doodling, how well did I spend the day? A thorough concept and process based project with several explorations and solutions, I chose to reflect time using colored adhesive tape. It is a qualitative measure and the resulting graphic form created on the 17" x 120"  poster at the end of year will give an individual, a clear picture of how well their time was spent, whatever the activity or goal be.

Identity Design - Salt

STUDENT PROJECT

Identity and Package Design

The objective of this project was to create an identity and design a package for a product of my choice. I chose to design identity for himalayan salt pink salt (fine, course, rock). As I explored various logo options and package design ideas, the need to keep the identity true to its origin and let the product speak for itself, in the package design became evident. The logo form is derived from the huge pink rock salts found naturally in the Himalayan range. This slab rock forms the main graphic form of the logo and the courser and finer rock structures are depicted by organic forms. The organic nature of the logo resonates with the rustic nature of the product. I let the logo to be very minimalistic yet strong enough to be unique in its form. I chose to package the product in clear glass jar to let the beauty of the colored salt shine through.

 Package: Glass Jar
